Optimist International will be recognized worldwide as the premier volunteer organization that values all children and helps them develop to their full potential.

Purpose

To develop optimism as a philosophy of life utilizing the tenets of the Optimist Creed; to promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs; to inspire respect for the law; to promote patriotism and work for international accord and friendship among all people; to aid and encourage the development of youth, in the belief that the giving of one’s self in service to others will advance the well-being of humankind, community life and the world.

OPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL GHANA

Optimist International Ghana is a proud member and affiliate operating under the umbrella of Optimist International, headquartered in the United States of America, Missouri. As part of this respected global movement, Optimist International Ghana upholds the same core values, principles, and commitment to service that define Optimist clubs worldwide.

Optimist International is a worldwide volunteer organization comprising more than 2,500 local clubs spread across different countries and communities. These clubs are united by a shared mission: to bring out the best in children, youth, and communities, ensuring that the next generation grows up empowered, confident, and prepared to face the future with optimism and purpose.

In Ghana, Optimist International works tirelessly to translate this global vision into meaningful local impact. Through community-based initiatives, youth development programs, mentorship, educational support, and advocacy, the organization seeks to nurture leadership, promote positive values, and create safe and supportive environments for children and young people to thrive.

What is Friend of Optimists?

The Friend of Optimists Membership category was created to accommodate people who believe in what Optimist International stands for and what Optimist Clubs do in their communities. However, not everyone has the time to fully commit as a regular Member of an Optimist Club or perhaps they live in an area that does not have an Optimist Club. Joining as a Friend of Optimists allows people to Bring Out the Best in Kids apart from Club affiliation.

Can a Friend of Optimists participate in Club or District activities?

Absolutely Yes! A Friend of Optimists may choose to participate in service projects and fundraisers with a local Club or District or they may choose to support the Optimist cause with their Membership fee only.
